Another off-topic week, but I felt this needed to be discussed immediately. Hurricane Helene has torn through southern America, destroying everything in its wake. Its powerful blasts of 130 mph winds and record flooding never previously seen have left communities in ruin. Submerged homes, displaced families, and washed-out resources have destroyed everything in a single moment. The calls for emergency services are so high, which also means the need for immediate assistance is overwhelming. Now is the time for us to come together and help the victims of this disaster. Every little bit helps in times like these. If you're in a position to donate, please consider a contribution to the organizations on the front lines of disaster relief. The Red Cross is active in response to the crisis, providing shelter, food, and medical care to people. For this post, were going a little off topic from a day in the life of a college broadcaster. Instead, we'll be checking out a current event going on this week. Sticking with the topic of sports, lets check out the ever so amazing Detroit Lions(2-1) taking on the Seahawks(3-0) this Monday. Both teams are starting the season very hot, even with the Lions taking a loss to the Buccaneers on their second game. However, it seems that the Lions, every year, have a couple teams that for some reason always have their number. The Seahawks are 100% one of those teams. After a tough loss last season to Seattle, the Lions are looking to bounce back this year and take home a 3-1 record and send the Seahawks home with their first loss of their year. According to multiple credible news outlets, this game is projected a very close score, with the Lions favored, but not by much. This is a must win in my opinion for Detroit.
